Tofu cheesesteak

I explored Berkeley today. I don't know if I like it. The people seem to be super nice, but the town's just too clean and polished for me -- like a suburb, if you will. I like neighborhoods with character -- old buildings, long-time locals, ma-n-pa places that have been around for 30 years, and history. Berkeley is more like a college town. Not exactly my cup o' tea.

I passed a homeless man with a huge shopping cart and a yellow lab sleeping beside it. While the guy had long scraggly hair, missing teeth, and skin so dirty you'd think he hadn't showered in a year, the lab was well-fed, clean, and freshly groomed. I stopped to talk to him, and when I gave him five bucks, he demonstrated his sign language skills by saying, "Jesus loves you. Thank you!" I mentioned that I thought his sign was the best sign ever (he signed "thank you" again) and I asked if I could take a picture of it. He pulled out a black & white photo of himself and the dog (when she was a puppy, one and a half year ago) and positioned it above the sign. I guess it was his way of telling the future viewers of this photo that it was indeed his sign and no one else's.
