Life in Sunny Dubai

The Old Library

(9/9/24)

I am on a mission to repair as many broken things as possible instead of buying new ones. The mouse that came with a Logitech keyboard that I bought in 2022 has become unreliable, so I looked up where to take it. An electronics store in Times Square Mall showed up in the results, so G & I headed it, with me under the impression that they could repair it while I waited.

As happens too often in this city, you can't believe what the website says. People in the store didn't have a clue. We had a look at white goods and ate lunch before we left the Mall and headed to. The Old Library! Hannah, who we had lunch with yesterday, had told me about it, so it was good to check it out. I'm not a big reader, but I recognised the Antoine de Saint Exupery quote immediately. Unusual for Dubai, it is run completely by volunteers who rigorously enforce the late return penalty. My extra is its history.

G came home with three rare, out-of-print books and handmade earrings. I spent the evening working on a new video. It is a complete album (45 minutes), so is going to take longer than the 2-3 hours a typical four-minute video takes.
