Negative Space : : Two Jugs

John tried to get out of it, but we kept our appointment with Kathy this morning since this month's schedule is disrupted with vacations and national holidays.

Drove back and met Rick and Meg at Trail House for a coffee and a croissant. John went home and Meg, Rick and I went for a little shopping expedition including a search for shaving cream for Rick which took us to the horrible mall. I was amazed to see that the sprawling brick structure which divides the Railroad Square from the downtown plaza has been painted black and white! I thought when we first moved here that we were quite cutting edge with our black door and white house.
Since the fires, there has been a veritable epidemic of black and white buildings, ranging from many of the  of the new post-fire residential pseudo-farmhouse style houses replacing the pseudo-Tuscan houses scattered around the hills like a pink fungus, to many public buildings including the Montgomery Village shopping center.

We're now enjoying a quiet afternoon before joining Dana and Jim for dinner at a neighborhood restaurant
