The Lozarithm Lens

Diary blip (Tuesday 10th September 2024)

Last Thursday morning I was in my study giving first play to a new remastered version of the Grateful Dead's From The Mars Hotel album, when there was a loud click and all the power went off. It turned out that a leaky gutter had led to water getting into the porch and via the cables into the fuse box, which became flooded. This left me without landline, lighting, computers, CD players, TV, mains radio, kettles, microwaves, air frier or ovens, shower, hot water or any way of recharging anything that needs a battery (such as my portable DAB radio, laptop, LED torch, smartphone or iPad), so a lot of careful rationing.

A temporary fix to stop the water getting in happened the following day but it wasn't safe to attend to the RCD until after the weekend so that it could dry out, and so power wasn't restored until lunchtime on Monday, leaving me with a lot of catching up to do.

I had been reading and writing during the day but the building became too dark for that by teatime and so I have been out every evening, mostly with C. and Loki in Trowbridge. With luck I'll have two backblips of Loki to post when I've worked through the images I took there, and some canal pictures from Caen Hill - watch this space.
