The Lozarithm Lens

Pinboard #23 (Thursday 12th September 2024)

A lot of catching up to do after power was re-instated, and on Thursday a trip to Melksham and Trowbridge as well. I did make time to construct this quick art-related pinboard. Depicted (left to right) are Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse; Robert Rauschenberg (Monogram, 1959); Monty Python; Earthrise 1968; Le Magicien (1944) by Clovis Trouille.

The text from the letter from the Sunday Times magazine cover of 4 June 1967, with the same date and a Cheltenham address, reads:
"Sir,
Do you call this rubbish art?  I am appalled that you should sully our breakfast table with such muck.  I am cancelling my subscription forthwith.
Yours etc.
  Disgusted
    (retd.)"

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Frank Zappa - Peaches En Regalia (recorded 28 July - 30 August 1969)
A new copy of the album Hot Rats arrived on the doormat today. I had the album before but in a 1987 remix that had made significant changes to the original vinyl album. This new copy was a 2008 remaster from the original analogue masters and released in 2012, giving me the opportunity to compare and contrast. Frank Zappa played most of the instruments but on this opening instrumental piece Ian Underwood plays keyboards and things and a 15-year old Shuggie Otis plays bass guitar.
