The Pensioner

Benched

Just as I was about to do stuff, the daughter called in wanting a couple of shelves cut. An easy job but these were cheap things, as she acknowledged, covered in veneer. And we all know the problems with sawing through veneer, right? I mean it gets all raggedy. And that won’t do at all. So I took excessive care under her watchful eye.
And eventually, off she went, all happy. Until I got a call. Whoops, she’s measured it wrongly. I called her back but she’d learned her lesson - there were were a couple of workies working a few doors down from her who re-cut them in a trice. A trice. See the power women have?
Later out to the Everyman to see Lee, about the life of Lee Miller, celebrated photographer. There’s a decent film out there to be made of her life but it sure isn’t this. Sentimental, much? And if you haven’t quite got the subtle tone that’s slapping you round your chops, have some tinkly piano. And then have some sad piano. Have some oh-so-gay, Paris is liberated piano. Let me out!
