Welcome

After waking at 01:30, and not getting back to sleep until 03:30, I woke at 10:00. This was fine, as my first meeting was in my office at 12:00. Or should I say "our office", as it was with my new PhD student B, whose name is one of five on the door. We were later joined by researcher J and developer F, and the four of us went over to the Nucleus for two of us to buy lunch before eating in the School common room . 

Although it was beautifully sunny all day, it was rather windy, taking out many of the "Welcome" banners put out for the new students. It also led to a pile of new insulation panels blowing off the sixth floor roof of our building and landing with a great crash. Thankfully it wasn't somewhere that people walk! 

In the afternoon I had a meeting with F and, after an hour's work on documentation, a meeting with J. Wiped out, I was happy to go home, and had a snooze on the bus
