Project New Nybro

The project to replace the aging Nybro bridge (ironically Nybro = New Bridge) is gathering pace.
The jetty alongside Nybro now crosses almost the whole sound. Presumably the machines demolishing Nybro will use that jetty. You can see the pilings for that jetty, plus the pile driver if you look beyond the subject of this photo, which is the new temporary bridge that will be used while the "real" new bridge is being constructed.
It seems to have been almost completed now and the road up to this temporary bridge was being constructed as we went by. There seems to be a gaggle of yellow clad figures in the centre of the bridge. Perhaps they were celebrating the completed construction, or perhaps they were putting their heads together because there was a problem. Time will tell.
Other news about today. It's been a slightly bewildering day. We were up at 06.30 this morning because I had a time with the dental hygienist, and Jan had a mammogram at the hospital. 06:30 is not a time I recognise normally these days and it seemed a very strange time to wake up! It didn't help the mood that it was absolutely pouring with rain and the local coast had a gale warning in place.
The good news is those appointments went well, and we also picked up our new passports. It took 4 working days from going to the police station, where they have a machine that photographs you and takes two fingerprints, until the passports being ready for collection. We didn't even have to fill in a form! I'm impressed!
By early afternoon Jan was ready to rest her leg and lie on the bed and I decided to join her and read my book. I promptly fell asleep for a couple of hours.
Despite that snooze I'm still tired now and I'm fairly sure I'll sleep well tonight.
