TUESDAY

I was up just after 7:00 a.m. today and pleasantly surprised to see the forecasted rain hadn’t arrived. After missing last Saturday’s parkrun, I was feeling a bit guilty about my recent lack of exercise, so I set off on a 5K run down to the broken Llanerch Bridge.

The run was easier than usual – downhill into the wind on the way out, and on the return, I had the strong wind behind me for the 100m  climb back to the village. I covered the 5.25 km in 33 minutes and 6 seconds.

After breakfast and a shower, the rain finally showed up. I drove down to Denbigh to Neuman Printers to check the proofs for a print run of 600 cards for the village community group. I must give a huge shout-out to Mike Neuman and his team – they offer fantastic service, and I can’t recommend them enough.

Afterwards, I stopped for petrol and picked up some of tubs of chocolates to share at this afternoon’s bowls match (as it's my birthday at the weekend). Is it just me, or do those tubs seem to shrink in size every year?

After lunch, I headed to Rhuddlan for our league match against East Parade (Rhyl). The teams at this club have been a bit of a bogey for me—I’ve played them five times in the past year and lost three, so I had some psychological hurdles to clear. The weather was a  mix of sunshine and showers. Save for two ends, I didn’t even bother practicing in the rain before the game, knowing the green would change by the time my turn came at number eight.

The match went well overall. Our team won seven out of the ten games, earning us 7 points, plus another 2 points for the aggregate score. Despite a shaky start, I managed to win my game 21-8 in sunny conditions, overcoming that mental block. And as expected, the chocolates were a hit with both teams!

I wrapped up the day cooking a  vegetarian sausage and bean cassoulet for dinner.

Today's Blipfoto was taken in the centre of Denbigh, just after a heavy downpour late morning. The building with the clock and small bell tower in the town's library.
