Tremeirchion
WEDNESDAY
I was up early as we were expecting the arrival of the flooring contractor to fit a new floor to the en-suite shower room. He arrived at 9:30 and spent a couple of hours carefully cutting the flooring planks and meticulously laying them in a herring bone pattern. We are very happy with the result and we are just waiting for the bathroom fitter to come tomorrow morning to refit the sanitary ware.
It’s also been a busy day outside in the street which now resembles a construction site with several Openreach vans and a digger making an early appearance. They’ve been marking, cordoning off, and digging up the footpath in preparation for full-fibre broadband. Not to be outdone, the Colas roadwork team joined the fray to tidy up the road surface around the street gullies and inspection chambers. There’s no such thing as too much disruption in one day.
Despite the workers braving torrential rain and even a hail shower—full PPE and all—I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for them. Meanwhile, half the street is now a no-parking zone, making it a real adventure for the neighbours to find a parking spot. I’m eagerly anticipating tomorrow’s challenge when the garden waste and recycling wagons attempt to navigate the obstacle course.
The main blip, shows one of the roads into Tremeirchion village, proudly featuring our community information point (formerly known as a telephone box). The extra shot captures the current state of the street, with the “work in progress.”
We might have a blanket 20 mph speed limit on the roads here in Wales but at least we have the promise of ultra-fast fibre broadband.
