PDX: the redecorated airport

Old friends who live in Albuquerque arrived tonight. That gave me the chance to meet their flight and see the stunning $2 billion airport refurbishment just completed a month ago. I love the stadium seats where people can watch arriving passengers; the satiny wood ceiling; the trees and greenery. 

Their plane was delayed by about half an hour, so I was able to catch some of the debate on my phone. She wiped the floor with that guy, just as everyone with half a brain knew she would. However she used again the phrase that makes my skin crawl: "The most lethal fighting force in the world." Must she brag about being lethal? 

Minutes after the debate ended, my friends came into view, and we spent the next hour catching up with mutual friends, drinking cherry juice, and celebrating our good fortune in seeing each other again. More about all that tomorrow and Thursday.
