Parera/Grey Duck

Called in at Te Wai Orea (Western Springs Lake) on my way home. This duck is likely to be a hybrid, but it does seem to have more Perera (Grey Duck) characteristics than many of the hybrid birds.

The duck had five ting ducklings swimming behind it. I can't see any eels in this part of the lake. It's probable that those ducklings will not grow to adulthood.
