The wonderful world of book covers

One of the presents Helena gave me on my recent birthday was this old copy of Eric Ambler's thriller 'Cause for Alarm', written in 1938. I've always liked (most) thriller books and she had hunted this down on a recommendation that both he, and it, were one of the best. 

But it is the cover I really like, not having started the book yet. A classic graphic design for a slightly later paperback edition. It has been a while since a book was one of my emergency blips, but the time has come round once again. I'm finding it harder and harder to post a picture here these days.
