The haul
There had been a Trump vs Harris debate overnight so obviously that was the first thing to check out in the morning; no major bloopers though Trump’s statement that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are abducting and eating pets was a new and amusing one.
Then Minky time and we were off swimming for the first time in ages - she’d been abroad the previous week to Béziers and had been in the pool a lot so we thought she might be amenable to a further bit of familiarisation, if not actually swimming. But she did manage a bit of doggy paddling with a float. Then home and tatties to lift. As it was, we never got them eaten. A treat for Grandad tomorrow. And she played so contentedly all afternoon the SK was able to go visit her Aunt and I cleaned windows.
And then an educational outing: Join Lichen Biodiversity Scientist Dr Rebecca Yahr and researcher Toby Mills on a walk around Granton’s Eastern Breakwater to explore the abundant community of marine lichen species at the site. Well, that was a must, though I hadn’t reckoned on the downpours while we walked there and the biting wind. No such discomforts for you, dear reader - you can join in from your own home!
Then to a surprisingly empty Diggers, though we had a good turnout including the often absent Frankie. No AJ though as his Mum had sadly passed away last week. Not that he was sitting at home moping, which is foolish in any case after a long life well lived. No, he’s packing his bags for a jaunt to Seville. Life does indeed go on.
