Shredded
We have a small circular pergola in a corner of the garden where we have a 'French cafe style' metal table and two chairs and where, in theory, it would be nice to sit out for a coffee in the morning. In practice, it's not been possible for quite a while. Back when we had the garden done in 2022 the garden man planted some white lavender at the foot of each of the four pergola legs. It looked lovely and really attracted the bees but despite cutting it back as we were supposed to do, it has pretty much taken over, so we decided it was time for it to go.
We waited until all the flowers had died and the bees had gone, and today dug up the four plants. Unfortunately, our brown bin had been emptied this morning and the lavender would have easily refilled it, meaning the bin would have been out of action for the next two weeks. With other garden jobs coming up, that would have been a problem.
Then I remembered my shredder! At the old house I had a big field hedge to deal with so needed a shredder to get rid of all the wood. It's not been used since but it was great with the lavender, reducing it all to just a small pile of clippings. And I have to say there is something immensely satisfying about feeding a large piece of wood into it and seeing mulch fall out into the bin at the bottom!
