Former Post Office now a library

today a short train journey to Utrecht, using the railway system was remarkably easy, there are travel cards left for us in the house, very thoughtful, similar to Oyster cards used in London.

After visiting the market and buying some very tasty goats cheese we had an interesting lunch and a wander around the old town of Utrecht. A beautiful area with canals, trees, interesting buildings and small shops. Last night I was reading some information about the old post office and fortunately recognised the building today. Inside is the most wonderful looking ex Post Office you could imagine, now a library plus cinema, cafe, meeting rooms and open to everyone. It would be worth going back just to tour the building and find out more. According to the information on line all post offices in the Netherlands are now closed, this was built around 1924, it lives on as a place for the community to meet, learn and gaze in wonder.
