Sue's magnificant hollyhocks
Our neighbour has grown these wonderful plants that look magnificant in the current spell of hot weather. I've been meaning to blip them for a day or two and now is the time.
Another spectacularly nice day today. Warn sunny weather continues, with a lovely tempering breeze to make it comfortable. It appears this is not so in other parts of the country where temperatures are much higher and the news is full of a Level 3 Heat Wave, just one short of a national emergency at Level 4. Horror stories on the news about babies and young children with sun burn, one as young as 4 months. It seems that everything nowadays must be levelled, catergoriesed and compartmentalised, I don't remember this happening when I was younger?
We cycled into town this morning, pottered around, bought a few things including a new waterering can for the allotment, which was interesting carrying home on a bike - looked like I'd got a high level motorcycle exhaust at the back, albeit green.
In the afternoon, amongst other things I made some gooseberry curd from a few of the abundance of gooseberries we have on the bush in our garden. Picked a load to take with us tomorrow when we go and visit people in Gosport for the weekend. I think we might be going to the Isle of Wight on Saturday for the day.
