Climbing trees ..
in Alice Park.
Eda was at her drama class this morning and John went shopping. We spent time with Jude and Grace before she went off for the matinee, the penultimate performance.
We loved the choreographed musical numbers in the show last night especially ‘I’m getting married in the morning’ and the harmonising of the men’s voices is very special but the show is very long and in the dialogue parts I found myself nodding off in the second half! I didn’t miss any of Grace, for me she lights up the stage! (I may be biased)
After a long week back at school and three hours at drama club John wasn’t sure if Eda would be up to going to Alice Park, but we suggested it after lunch as it was so glorious out (warmer out than in)
We left John and took Eda’s bike and Jude’s scooter as the park is great for wheeled activities, but after an initial scoot/cycle around Eda wanted to climb trees. She has been to a climbing wall with daddy and she obviously knew which trees were good for climbIng - more in the extra.
Eda then took us up to the enclosed memorial Lily Pond dedicated to the brother of Alice McVicar for whom the park is named. They wanted to hide in some of the shrubs and tunnels around the edges of the enclosure. The pond was alive with huge dragonflies but I didn’t manage to get a shot of one. I did get a darter ( I think) that settled on a rock.
Then it was time for ice creams all round. We love this park it has everything included a great little cafe.
Back home after a bit of conker collecting by Eda who had bumped into a boy from her school who had got a box full. Think he’d got most of them!
John’s turn to go to the theatre tonight. We’ll get the girls to bed with a bit of a chill first watching Strictly - we’ll see how that goes. They usually watch it with Grace, that and sewing bee are about the only things she watches on TV.
A lovely day hope Grace enjoys her last performance tonight and John stays awake!
