Terrier Knowle 2678 at Tenterden

I’m a life member of the Terrier Trust which owns this locomotive as well as 80% of the other Terrier on our line No 3, Bodiam also known as Poplar.

I was in Tenterden this afternoon for the Terrier Trust AGM where the formal business of the Trust was completed followed by a members’ forum. This evening members were invited to a trip along the line hauled by Knowle and this rather splendid coach.

This single coach formation was typical of the train that used to run on the line right up until closure in 1954 albeit with a few trucks tagged on the end. The extra tries to capture something of the essence of the line at that time.

We couldn’t join the members fish and chip special as we’re busy with last minute stuff for Madeira. We’re staying overnight at Gatwick tomorrow, our flight leaves at 7.40.

Time to relax now on the traditional Saturday evening
