Magnanimous in defeat?

I was up early this morning to knit another premature baby hat. This one was for the village show. 

I had a few hats already, but I wasn't confident that they were complicated enough to win.

In the event, I did not make it, even to third place. (My hats are the two pink ones are the back left of the display.

The winner was an alpaca hat all bagged up as if for sale. Very delicate and fine.

It turns out that there had been a pattern to follow for the hats but I didn't know that. I took the rest of my stash of hats to the hall so that they could go to the Premature Baby Unit at the RVI in Newcastle. I enjoy knitting them.

The show was small but a big success. There were lots of entries and lots of people came. I retreated home before the courgette races and I finally had an afternoon nap. Bliss.
