Compass plane

The day passed in a whirl and I was on my second glass of red wine with friends John and Flicky when I remembered that I hadn't taken a blipfoto. This is a suggestion from my very handy husband Brendan who is cooking us all paella as I speak. He loves to cook sometimes as well!
This is his compass plane. It is vey old and he was so happy to have bought it second hand in such good condition. It was used particularly by boat builders to plane curves for wooden boat construction .The sole (bendy bit of metal at the bottom )can be set in either a convex or concave curve in order to plane the surface. He used it a lot when he made a new sliding fore hatch for our boat. ( Future blip maybe )
This is not my best photo but it was after a couple of glasses of vino ...... and hey... I bet you learnt something today!
