Under (assisted) sail

Wednesday
Once again it was a bright, sunny and still morning, but we did get out on the sailing boat late morning, together with Phil (in the turquoise) and Joe (in the orange), another retired GE person. Joe has an interesting “sideline”, being a member of Rover.com, pet sitting for people when they are away, either at his own home, if they’re local people, but also going to house/pet sit in other places. One place he’s been to at least twice is for a couple in San Diego, near the beach. He and his wife have to pay for the flight to get there, but then they get free accommodation in exchange for pet sitting. Sounds a pretty good deal! In my title, I say under (assisted) sail, as Phil has a small electric motor on the back of the boat, which is useful for getting away or returning to the dock, and to make sure he can return if he gets becalmed. Because of the very light and fickle wind, we had to rely on that quite a bit today, but it was still just lovely and relaxing being out on the water in the sunshine. We were out for perhaps 90 minutes or so, then returned to Phil and Suzanne’s camper. As we were walking away from the dock, two more couples, friends of Phil’s arrived, both driving Teslas. Phil and Suzanne also had their Tesla there, so it was a bit like a Tesla convention! They arrived bearing food, so we all hung out by the camper for a while, then later in the afternoon, Phil took them out on the sailboat, and we took our kayaks out again, and as you can see from my extra collage, we had a great birding kayak, seeing a bald eagle and ospreys, as well as the usual cormorants and great blue herons, The sailing boat in the collage is Phil’s boat. After returning to our camper after our kayak, we had some visitors to our pitch - see extra! The evening was again spent around a campfire.
