Female Of The Species

I grabbed my camera this morning to get a shot of the (at least) six collared doves which were sitting on the garden arch. They flew off of course but then I noticed the woodpecker on the nuts. I posted a woodpecker shot recently commenting it was a regular visitor, but this one is different, no red on the head, so a female. Looking back we do get both males and females. A bit soft as it is taken through an upstairs window,

Another big disappointment on the sports front, watching Pompey lose 0-3 at home. I've seen them three times now this season and it's clear they just haven't got enough Championship standard players in. I saw a comparison which suggested their transfer spending was the lowest in the division. They huff and puff a lot but don't have any players with the skills, pace and creativity that all the other teams seem to have in abundance. And don't ask about the defence. They were 0-1 down after just 1 minute. It is going to be a long and difficult season I think.
