Sunday afternoon concert
M declined an invitation to accompany me to an afternoon of music in Dunblane cathedral preferring to go for a long walk than an afternoon of Warlock, Mozart and Janacek. Maybe he made the better choice.
The Mozart piano concerto K453 played by Alan Hastie was brilliant but I was not in the right frame of mind to appreciate either Warlock or Janacek played by a semi-professional group of musicians.
But after reading about Warlock’s life I wish I had paid more attention to his music.
He was regarded as brilliant young composer leading a double life who turned to the occult and was found dead in mysterious circumstances, age 36.
