You can’t beat home-made cakes. For those of us who lack the skill , time or energy the next best thing is a local artisan bakery.
Well, we have one on our doorstep in Bridge of Allan. Its Havn, a Danish bakery.
In a week that announced the closure of celebrity chef Nick Nairn’s restaurant here , Havn, has difficulty keeping up with the demand for its breads and cakes.
Today I am indebted to them for providing the cakes for my visitors afternoon tea. Even so they had almost sold out when I went in despite it being early afternoon.
So, what's their secret? This young team bring a strong European flavour ( Italians, Danish German, Irish as well as British ) and work ethic with them under the guidance and influence of their Danish owner.
Also, they produce high quality fresh, products, at a price people can afford.
