Skybridge

This morning we left Revelstoke and headed back along the Trans Canada Highway towards Lake Louise. We had downloaded an audio guide which pointed out all the sights on the way. We learnt about Skunk Cabbage, how many glaciers in Glacier National Park (131) and all about the history of British Columbia. Our first stop was at the Golden Skybridge. It is Canada’s highest suspension bridge, 426 feet above the Columbia Valley. Luckily it wasn’t too busy so wasn’t swinging and bouncing too much . It is a circular walk, with 2 bridges and spectacular views. We were very proud once we finished and were back on terrafirma. This afternoon on our drive to Lake Louise our audio tour encouraged us to detour off the main route and head to Emerald Lake. It’s the first time we encountered a main tourist attraction, but the wait to park was well worth it. The walk around the lake was stunning. The colour is caused by the mineral pigments added to the lake by the surrounding glaciers. We then headed to see a natural stone bridge on the Columbia River. The tunnel through the stone has been worn away by the pounding water. Finally we arrived at Lake Louise and The Post Hotel and Spa. We have a nice balcony with the evening sun on it but learnt not to leave the door open as a cheeky chipmunk decided to nip in our room and was very reluctant to leave .Tomorrow we are walking both Lake Louise and Lake Moraine.
