This grand blue granite building…
… was where I started my Civil Service career. I wasn’t actually in that building for more than 3 weeks because my department; the Natural Beauties Committee, moved to offices on the White Rock which is one arm of the town harbour.
Back then dialing hadn’t reached the town exchange and you had to pick up the phone and wait for the operator to ask…’Number please’! Things have certainly moved fast in my generation’s lifetime.
I couldn’t blip something simple from my kitchen because I have arranged everything that I need to be handy for me following my op and the whole place looks a mess. To be fair I’m not much of a domestic goddess and things normally look messy but at least I have an excuse this time!
