Little Scapegoat

Mindy pointed out this little guy in the garden this morning. Went for a small bike ride this morning then took Nina to her soccer game. At one point during the game a player from the other team got hit in the stomach with that ball and was panicking because she couldn’t breathe. Instinctively our keeper ran over to the girl and held her while reassuring her that she would be okay. It was a beautiful moment. I hope that my instincts are similar.
Election season had me on edge, but I think people are pretty tired of all the controversy surrounding Trxmp. I have never seen less banners flags and yard signs that this year. That might change, but I hope it doesn’t. I haven’t had the stomach to watch Alex Garlands new civil war movie, probably because it doesn’t feel like fantasy, violence is increasingly becoming a tool employed to grab power. Trxmp and Vxnce’s remarks about migrants during the debate news cycle are both alarming and completely expected. The play book that they’ve settled on is well known and resonates with a portion of the population who needs a scapegoat for their plight but doesn’t want to question their underlying myths about American exceptionalism or hold Wallstreet accountable. These issues aren’t going away without a major change in the way we structure our values and unfortunately the Democratic party’s main objective is to keep in place the status quo.
