The Return of Summer
Today really has felt like summer coming back - beautifully sunny and warm!! Yesterday I didn't turn the heating on because it seemed ridiculous in the middle of September, but knew I should have done when I had to jump into a hot bath at about 4pm to heat up!
And with today's warmth the butterflies have come back, flooding into the garden. No, I didn't go to the Magdalen Hill reserve - it's always at least 2 degrees colder up there anyway, so I stayed around here in the river valley and found this wonderful pristine brimstone. Okay, a pretty common butterfly but it's always been one of my favourites. It's feeding (once again) on black knapweed.
What else? Charlie the plumber came this afternoon to fix one of the kitchen taps and I've got pots ready by the front door for some planting out later in the week. I've also had a bit of a go at my winter wardrobe, chucking some of the oldest stuff out and replacing it on a quick trip to town. So a pretty satisfying day all round.
Hope yours has been a good one. Take care xx
