Hoy Hills from Orkney Mainland
Just as the Editor was putting to bed the ‘Terpsichorean Times’ headlines had to be re-jigged. For there was some startlingly good dancing this morning in Kirkwall Town Hall. Featured dances included: Crossing the Line / Liquid Assets / Alex Doig’s Jig / Bow Fiddle Rock / The Daffodil (which is a real foooter) / an unexpectedly good An Gearasdan and, in The Earl of Mansfield, the part of Bunty was played by CMC. In fact I am contractually bound to say that it was a real boost to dance with CMC today. Normally she is a man (smokes a pipe in the Strathspeys) but with plenty of men in attendance she was a lady. Other dances were done too. Post pas de basque lunch in the St Magnus Café was a real rammy because it was stowed out with North American tourists from two cruise liners. My toastie went to another table. I went across to the table. Hands across the ocean. Then went across to see my mother in the Care Home who was rather mixed up. She has been blaming my Dad (who died 23 years ago) for not getting kindling ready for the fire and for locking the dog in the coal shed. Dashed home and whilst CMC was in the polycrub ad garden I did some painting. I shopped earlier today (mainly fruit) but was startled at the checkout when a voice came over the tannoy announcing that someone had left a past participle at the bakery section. Tut tut. Can we dumb down any further?
Going out for more dancing tonight. In the Peedie Kirk. You are all invited for 7.30 p.m.
