Skies on fire

Over Kingussie Station.

I'm on the train back to Edinburgh this evening, having chosen to take the direct later train from Inverness to Edinburgh, rather than the earlier Glasgow train which would get me to Edinburgh somewhat earlier by dint of changing either once in Perth, or twice in Stirling and then Croy. No thanks, especially to the latter.

I'd hoped to get something to eat in the Victorian Market, but it seems that everything closes at 5pm on Mondays. Pooh. I got a salad from M&S.

Earlier, I worked as best I could, but the work started today on our soffits and fascia boards, and there was rather a lot of disturbance outside the windows. I had to move a couple of times from front to back of the house, and then back again. Anyway, the bits that have been done look rather neat.

This is the same journey I took a few times in the summer, when it was possible to walk across the park in the gloaming. Today, I shall choose a different route for the final part of the trip, probably along Great Junction Street and up Bonnington Road. Hoping for an on time arrival, which seems a reasonable aspiration right now.

When we left Aviemore, I noticed a red light in the sky, so used the opportunity of the short stop in Kingussie to snatch this shot from the open train door.
