Mortuary Attendants
This common darter dragonfly, Sympetrum striolatum, broke free from entrapment in a spider's web and promptly did a belly-flop into the pond-water.
As its struggles radiated out across the pond like an SOS call, the pondskaters, Gerris lacustris, were prompt in their response, the first arriving in under a minute.
Within 10 minutes, there was a team of 10 individuals in attendance. Sadly though, giving assistance was the furthest thing on their minds - they were there for one thing only - supper! (in 'extra')
