Under the bridge
Another day spent at home, gardening and picking, giving away, preserving apples. Writing ’letters’ (they’re really e mails these days aren’t they) and also an effort to contact lots of people to donate to the Alzheimer’s research fundraising walk I’m doing on Saturday. I’m pushing at an open door with most family and friends - nobody is unaffected these days.
A short walk only today - down to the station to pick up some future tickets. I walk across this bridge - then down some steps to walk on the riverside path. Struck by the lovely Virginia creeper swinging back and forth in the breeze
In the evening went to see the film Lee starring Kate Winslet. Lee Miller was a model turned photographer turned war photographer. She had a knack of getting to the places that most needed to be remembered. Normandy in 1944 where, as a woman, she was ‘only’ allowed in the military hospital behind the lines. Then to a liberated Paris, then on to Berlin, and to concentration camps. A brilliant film, you would need to be feeling strong to watch it. My friend and I both said it made us think of what’s happening in Palestine today
