Ardnamurchan

This is a view across the head of Loch Sunart, with Strontian on the far shore.

I was in Ardnamurchan today and the weather was , after the mist cleared, mostly bright and warm.   I was spoiled for pictures and I have added a couple as extra photos, but I did want to get the village of Strontian in, given that it is the only place in the UK that leant its name to one of the elements - strontianite, which is number 38 in the periodic table.

One of its isotopes, Strontian 90, is also of course well known given its highly poisonous presence in radioactive fall out.  Fortunately however there were happier  things to think about on the visit !
