Helsington Barrows

Is it finally summer? Our thermometer was saying 22C!
We made the most of it and went for a delightful walk up on Helsington Barrows. There were some large gatherings of house martins, and goldfinches. We saw a green woodpecker, and a pair of kestrels.
There’s hardly anyone about up there at the moment as all bridges from Kendal are closed for the foreseeable future! We took the sneak up from the bypass which is terribly narrow and you have to pray that you don’t meet anyone coming the other way!
It was worth it though, such wonderful weather and the views to the fells and Morecambe Bay were superb.
