Happy 117th Birthday Dad

My dad is Edwin Mattison McMillan. If he were still alive he’d be 117 today. He was an amazing man and a wonderful dad and I still miss him even though it’s been 33 years since he died. In the photo he’s playing with the atom smasher - mouse trap - cigarette lighter made by the UC Berkeley radiation lab staff and given to him by its leader. My son Jason Nunes has the contraption now. It actually works though the atoms are imaginary and the mouse is made of felt. The match is real and sometimes it actually lights.
