A Walk in the Park
The Parkwood National Historic Site is literally across the street from one of the entrances to this hospital. I have posted photos of the gardens before, so it is obvious how much I enjoy strolling around the estate.
Despite my diminished mobility – it is amazing how quickly one loses leg strength after several weeks spent reclining in bed – I can walk unaided as far as that exit and then can recover on one of the benches provided. There I sit looking longingly across the street, wishing I could be strolling once again around the grounds photographing those beautiful flowers, statuary and water features, but, alas, there are few benches therein for rest breaks.
But my friends Noreen and Donna (extra) came up with a solution …they know I will not ask them to push me around in a wheelchair, but pushing an empty one so I have a place to sit when I am tired was OK with me! What a treat! The only drawback is that while I can sit, they cannot..due to lack of benches..but they are working on a plan for next time..Meanwhile, I got a chance to smell those flowers!
