The Pensioner

More lovely weather. Far too hot for being out shopping, but a-shopping I must go as a certain birthday is getting very close. Just a few finishing touches needed to the collection of fine gifts already assembled for her maj. I just hope she doesn’t read this!
Earlier we’d been to the first Play, Pie & Pint of the new season to see The Last Cabaret on Earth which was quite excellent. A cabaret piano man stuck in a hotel as lockdown is imposed and all flights are ended, before an cataclysmic event will end us all. And we, the audience, are stuck there too, a collection of strangers. And as he addresses us and entertains us, he poses the question: is that what we’d chose to do in our last days on earth - to listen to nonsensical and whimsical songs? And of course, at another level, looking at the demographic in the audience, that’s amusingly, exactly what we do. Or what we do do, to put it more exactly. Terrific.
Back to sit out over on the beach awhile as the shadows from those neighbouring trees are getting longer and our sitooteri is now shaded by 5pm. And over there it was like midsummer. Wow, eh?
