1893: New Zealand first in women's vote

Quote Of The Day
"Is it right that your mother, your sister ..... should be classed with criminals and lunatics ... ? Is it right that while the gambler, the drunkard, and even the wife-beater has a vote, earnest, educated and refined women are denied it? Is it right ... that a mother .... should be thought unworthy of a vote that is freely given to the blasphemer, the liar, the seducer and the profligate? Is it right?"
(Katherine Sheppard)

I was treated to a wonderful sight from our balcony when I returned home from work today. A spectacular sunsight. But of course, birthdays are not just about the sublime wonder of nature's eternal majesty; there's materialism and sensualism too. So, my second favourite cake; Konigs-Krone's chocolate cake, which I chose because my favourite cake, Konigs-Krone's Antenor cake, looks too boring to be a birthday cake and because this chocolate cake is what A wanted for his birthday but it was sold out.

Presents: salted plum crisps (delicious!), wasabi and beef crisps, a space bath ball (which I look forward to using when I return from my professional development course in Nagoya this weekend), and space socks.

Cosmic!
