A day in the life

Filmset-2

My last appearance as extra in the film I have written about in an earlier blip, took place at the theatre in Kalmar, a familiar place for me since I work there quite often.

There was 25 of us this time and our part was to be the audience at a play that had taken place here in the nineties, as a flashback in the film, "Rainman". There was a LOT of waiting this time. I arrived 13:45 where we were given clothes to wear, though the clothes I was already wearing was nineties enough to use, all I needed was a tweed jacket. Then we waited until five while some other scenes were filmed on stage, and after that we were called in to be filmed while making some loud applause. The next two and a half hours were spent moving around on different seats in the theatre, the 25 of us were meant to fill 250 seats to create the illusion of a sold-out performance. The blip is from the beginning of our move-aroud when the crew discuss how to best go about it. Our directors on stage took photos all the time and directed us to different seats and told us to be careful not to swing our arms outside the seat we were in, because then we might interfere with the person sitting in the next seat in the next shot. The film people later use "CGI" (Computer Generated Image) to melt all the takes into one, making it look like a full theatre.

I was back home around 20:00 after an interesting afternoon at the Theatre. The film has its premiére at Christmas in 2025, should you be interested.
