Belvoir Castle

We're having a short holiday, and set off down south today.  Our first stop was at Belvoir Castle, where we arrived at about 2.30pm.  The car park seemed quite empty when we got there, and we found out there had been a power cut, and the house and cafes were closed, though we could get into the grounds if we had cash.  We paid, and then went across the road to the craft village for a cuppa.

Then we had a walk up to the house, it's certainly impressive, with good views.  We then had a wander around the gardens looking at the statues - the first extra says "I Am Groot" to me for some reason, perhaps it's the lack of a nose!

The woman on the gate had locked up by the time we wanted to leave so we were advised to walk along the main drive and get out that way.  When we got to the end we found there were gates, but thankfully there was a van leaving, so we slipped out.

From there we drove further south.  The directions did at one point have us turning right on the A1, but after a quick attempt, decided to abandon that madness and turned left, doing a quick return over a bridge a mile or so further north.  Much more sensible!

After a quick stop for a Burger King dinner we drove to our accommodation for the evening.  More exploring tomorrow!
