Tanaga, Aleutian Islands, Alaska

They say that Tanaga Island is lush with dense green vegetation -- a beautiful contrast against the volcanic backdrop of the island ... but we are hard pressed to admire much today, as the whole place is shrouded in wreaths of fog and thoroughly moistened with a persistent drizzle!

Once again, the swells are large enough to present problems boarding the Zodiacs, and the only activity offered on land today is a beach walk, which we did yesterday.  We chose not to go out, but stayed on board and relaxed the morning away instead.  I am really hoping to see the sun shine again some day ... the gray weather that's been hounding us is beginning to pall!

Extra:  An extraordinary rock formation on the shore ... I assume its wasp waist has been formed by years of constant pounding by the surf.
