Mayia, Rhodes day 11

We enjoyed a fantastic road trip today to Prasonisi Beach, Castle Monolithu and Gennadi on the way back to Kiotari. 

It was difficult to choose one photo that did the day justice really so I've added lots of extras. We visited Prasonisi Beach last year on the bus but having a car meant we arrived before the masses and could take our time exploring.  We wanted to walk to the lighthouse but it was too far in the heat so we settled for the top of the hills and the hundreds of stone stacks. The views were stunning. Afterwards, we headed back down to the beach where the two different seas meet. One side is really windy and great for kite surfing and the other is mainly wind surfing.  We had a drink in the beach cafe and then headed towards Monolithu. 
As we reached the castle/church, the road was treacherous as I thought it might be as it'sperched on top of a cliff. The views and the colours were gorgeous, especially on the coast road to get to it. We arrived just before a coach load of tourists so enjoyed a few minutes of peace before it was overwhelmed and spoilt by too many visitors. 
After an ice cream and a drink, we decided to head back. 
On the journey back to the hotel, we listened to Matt's new album and enjoyed the view in this less travelled part of Rhodes.  We stopped at Gennadi before putting some petrol in the car and parking up at the hotel.
