twinned with trumpton

The assault on the remaining Munros continues
A 0430 start for a 0530 pick up at Hers; workie Fi was taking me, Her and the pup off to Glenfeshie for a walk up Mullach Clach a Bhlair. I'd done it previously, but in the interests of keeping match fit, and making sure the dog is entertained, I figured another go wouldn't be a bad thing.

Mile upon mile of misty gloom with a brief glimpse of sunshine at Drumochter before rounding Loch Insch and finally the cloud melted away and the promised sunshine appeared.

Its a gloriously hazy walk down Glenfeshie through the pine forests; a million spider webs all picked out with the dew and sunshine adding magic to proceedings. There's red red rowan berries, clear tumbling burns to cross, and lush green pine forests to meander through.

After about 3 miles, it's time to head upwards - a land rover track guiding you steadily upwards from the banks of the Feshie up to moorland plateau. The sun thankfully negated by the cooling breeze so it was a pleasant ascent. (as much as these things can ever be pleasant)

Out onto the summit plateau and it's a gentle weaving walk to the summit; Loki's 29th, Fi's 172nd and Her  40 - somethingth.

Lunch was taken peering into the majestic Corie Garbhlach, out of the wind but in the sun.

It's a long descent down, somehow seeming steeper than the upward march, and the welcome shade of the woods, cooling and calm in the heat of the day. A marked lack of wildlife; no real avian interest either. But everywhere you look is scenes that Visit Scotland should be snaffling up to highlight the beauty of the area.

13 miles done; home via Bruar (not my choice) and the preprepared squash curry and gallons of tea before I stretched out the legs with the final 4 miles home on the bike.

Extra is one of the million or so webs on show
