Double Dip Day!

I took some ladies from the WI for a wild swim in Redbrook. For three of them it was their very first time. As we drove up on the Moors the mist came down and shrouded everything. We got out of the car and I gestured towards the water, “It’s just there,” I said. It wasn’t until we were within a few feet of it that we could actually see it. They were trepidatious, especially Veronica who is a non swimmer, but they all got in. I gave Veronica a tow float and made sure she was never out of her depth and we all controlled our breathing together. Very quickly grimaces changed to smiles and laughter. They all enjoyed it.

It was the Neon Night Swim at the Quays this evening. It marks the end of the season, before the Polar swims start in October. It started to rain heavily as I arrived but, hey who cares, we were getting wet anyway. The water felt warmer than Redbrook and I swam round the course with Victoria. I loved the inky blackness and all the lights around the dock. The neon glowsticks illuminated the water and splattered a myriad of colours around us. We absolutely loved it.
