Šibenik
Never heard of the place till I started researching coastal towns near Zadar after booking flight there last month.
Šibenik is pretty with its Old Town and historical centre where we have a little studio flat for two nights overlooking the beautiful bay. Our view is pic first left. Stunning and so peaceful.
We packed up our rucksacks and left the lovely 5th floor flat in Zadar and went for breakfast of fruit yogurt and granola. Had a coffee on a cafe by the bay then got an Uber to the bus station for our Flix bus to Šibenik. Took 1 hour ten mins and we walked from the bus station to a meeting point in the old town (car free no Google maps) to meet Ines who owns the studio (next door to her house). She was left it by her grandfather and it was one whole house in need of extensive modernisation. She’s made a great job and it was spotless and a little balcony to sit at looking at the comings and goings of the many boats and ferries, and expensive yachts!
We were starving and chose a place from her ‘tips’ WA message. Food was superb (again). And we were sitting next to three Swiss nationals, who had been on a yachting holiday for two weeks round the Croatian Islands. The oldest one (prob early 70s) had been to Scotland many times to Kingussie to a shooting estate. We had an interesting conversation with them…
We finished up and walked over to the church for a look inside . The outside was stunning and it’s a UNESCO site it’s all made of stone.
By the time we came out of there I was starting to flat. Had not slept very well the past two nights due to a weekend dance party over the river from our apartment in Zadar. Thud thud till 2:30…..
I think was sleeping by 9 o’clock!
