Day trip to Zlarin
What a fab day away in the ferry to beautiful island Zlarin.
We got ready and were out at the Cafe on the promenade by 8:15 for breakfast of eggs toast and coffee overlooking the Bay. I love opening the curtains and seeing the view of the whole beautiful bay from our little studio set in the rocks of the old town.
The ferry was very cheap - 5 euros return for the two of us and took 25 minutes. Zlarin was a former coral fishing island and there are no cars allowed in it just electric vehicles like golf carts. It was very picturesque and quite a few restaurants and cafes. We sat and had a coffee overlooking the harbour.
Next up was a walk to the top of the Island as S wanted a swim in the warm turquoise waters of the Adriatic. They have area cordoned off for swimming g dotted around the coastline. Sat there for an hour with some snacks and a book while he swam.
Walked back through the interior path among lovely trees and flowering plants. Went to the very new Coral Museum which told the history of the fishermen and the woman too. Good interaction exhibits bringing the story to life.
We had a cool drink in a restaurant waiting for the ferry back. It stopped off in different Isla da so took around 1 hour this time.
We were starving so the main meal was in another restaurant recommended by our host Inez and another delicious meal.
Back to our apartment for a cuppa, freshen up and a seat on the balcony before going out for a wander later for some gelato (absolutely delicious). The old town is beautiful at night and enjoyed the little craft shops and buskers in various points. Walked down to the quayside to gape at a couple of multi million yachts harboured. The Maison Blanche is one there and it was something else. I think Ed it’s owned by a Trumpster.
Walked back uphill and sat out in the balcony watching the life on the bay
