Villars-sur-Ollon: Mountain Stay

I've just had the most marvellous weekend with my daughter in the mountains! The weather was perfect and we did some hiking. We took a little train up to a place called Col de Bretaye and then walked along two small lakes a partially round a third bigger one called Lac de Chavonnes.

We walked downhill quite a way and coming up the steep slopes was quite tough for me, but it was ok when I found a slowish cruising speed with a few little breathing stops. My daughter walked on ahead at her own speed! Thanks to my slower amble, I met a really interesting American lady who was going at the same pace as me! We got talking and she mentioned that she was an artist and giving a showing in the village of Villars, where we were staying. She invited us both to visit the art gallery!  More about that in my next posting!
