Brief Encounter

At Birmingham International station this morning, an old fashioned and peeling train was parked, waiting to set off for a grand day out.

I don't think it was The Orient Express. We were looking at the less posh side. But it was clearly a meal and day out, rail from a bye-gone age. The passengers were tucking into a traditional breakfast and as we watched, it headed off. Goodness knows where.

Looking at the couple deep in conversation, it set my imagination racing. ...............

Shortly after, our replacement Pendolino, complete with over stretched and grumpy crew and noisy passengers, headed for London Euston. We arrived very late as there was trouble at Milton Keynes. How times change.

We're going to see Daniel Radcliffe Harry Potter in "The Cripple of Inishmann" tonight. And an opera and Pompeii tomorrow. To be continued......
