I am SO cross! After Younger Son D’s scooter was knocked over by a woman who had reversed out of her parking space without looking, our local dealers estimated the repairs would cost close to £1000.
The woman, who has very honestly waited until D returned to the car park and admitted full responsibility, can’t afford to pay that so she asked D to claim on her insurance.
Today, D was told that an independent assessor has somehow managed to conjure up a repair bill of just under £3000, against a write off value of £3800, so the scooter will likely be written off.
We went to the dealers this afternoon. Second hand replacements of the same age (under 2 & 1/2 years old) & condition just aren’t to be found, meaning D will probably end up having to buy a new one, leaving him £2900 out of pocket.
